Michael McAuliffe Michael McAuliffe
President

Michael McAuliffe was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and received his Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University with a double major in Business Management and Political Science.

Before co-founding Family Credit Management Services, he was a branch manager for a national credit counseling agency. Prior to that he worked in the consumer lending and credit card department at Mid-America Federal Savings Bank and Great American Federal. During this time he approved loan applications, facilitated Visa and MasterCard chargebacks, assisted in fraud investigations, and held the position of Collection Department Manager, where he often worked with those who had become overextended with unsecured debt. He would often make referrals to credit counseling agencies. Dismayed that most credit counselors would remove the tithe from the budget of those in need and, in many cases, refuse to work with those that would not agree, he helped form a non-profit credit counseling agency based on Biblical teaching.

Michael is a strong consumer advocate and has contributed to hundreds of print publications and broadcast outlets on both the local and national level including Women's Day, Better Homes & Gardens, the Chicago Tribune, Associated Press, and Credit Union Times. Radio Appearances have included numerous independent stations and Public Radio's Marketplace.

Television coverage has included NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX affiliates as well as CNBC's On the Money. Live television appearances have included ABC News Chicago, WTTW Channel 11 Chicago Tonight and he has participated in live debates on CNBC's Power Lunch, Closing Bell, and Morning Call.

Michael and his wife, Sarabeth, are active members of the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago.

Elizabeth as been with Family Credit Management Services since 2001 and has served as Operations Manager, Director of Corporate Development, and her current position as Senior Vice-President. Elizabeth was instrumental in overseeing Family Credit's acquisition and renovation of a company owned office building in Rockford, Illinois, as well as successfully managing the relocation of existing staff and training of new staff at this state of the art office complex in 2002. She currently oversees general operations and closely with Legal Compliance, Public Relations and the Counseling Department.

She is recognized as an Accredited Financial Counselor through the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education. She has acted as a credit counselor for thousands of families and is a true consumer advocate regarding personal money management and has been interviewed by numerous television, radio, and print outlets.

Elizabeth was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois and received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from North Central University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She currently resides in northern Illinois with her husband and son.




Heidi Berardi

Vice President

As Vice President of FCMS, Heidi's priority is to provide top quality financial literacy education to our counselors, clients and the community-at-large. Heidi oversees the daily activity of the Education Department wherein educational materials and the monthly newsletter is developed. She works closely with all branch operations, the Client Service Department and the Client Advocate to ensure superior service is delivered to those we serve through our Debt Management Program. She believes "if God brings you to it, he'll bring you through it." She sees people change their lives every day though the power of God's work.

Heidi is an NFCC Certified Credit Counselor. She has spent over a decade in the consumer credit counseling field and has personally counseled thousands. She graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in English Education. Her desire to promote healthy families and strong communities is a driving force behind her daily work. She serves on the membership committee for the Rockford Area Affordable Housing Coalition and the HUD mandated Family Self Sufficiency Program Coordinating Committee for the Rockford Housing Authority. She is corporate liaison for Junior Achievement and sat on the Advisory Council for the nationally recognized financial literacy program Get Checking.

Heidi has contributed to numerous print publications and broadcast outlets including the I Hate Debt Radio Show, Chicago Tribune and LA Times. In her spare time Heidi enjoys participating in community reinvestment efforts through her local neighborhood association, supporting local public library initiatives and spending time with family and friends. She has traveled extensively throughout the country for both business and pleasure. She lives in Rockford with her husband Joe.




Curt Galloway


Curt Galloway
Treasurer and Corporate Secretary

Curt Galloway was raised in a Christian family in Wichita, Kansas, where he received a degree from Wichita State University.

As the Treasurer and Corporate Secretary since 1996 Curt is responsible for the management of the accounting department, including supervision of all client trust fund accounts. In addition, Curt manages all company accounts, taxes, and certain state and federal regulatory requirements that include the use of outside auditors to certify all accounting practices are compliant with generally accepted accounting practices.

Prior to joining Family Credit, Curt had a long career as a manager, officer, or owner of several organizations. These positions have brought Curt extensive experience and knowledge of budgets, business plans, corporate structure and forecasts.




Patrick Steva Patrick Steva
Legal Compliance Coordinator

Patrick was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania where he graduated from Gannon University with a Master's in Business Administration. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania.

Before starting at Family Credit Management Services, Patrick served as an administrator of several health service organizations, gaining a working knowledge of budgets and cost reimbursement. He also worked in the financial services field for several years, helping persons with their financial protection and investment needs.

As Legal Compliance Coordinator, Patrick is responsible for helping the organization meet all the state guidelines for debt management service providers in the states of operation. This involves reviewing current and proposed state and federal legislation pertaining to the industry, complying with state reporting requirements in states where licensed, making application for licenses in those states where the company is seeking to expand services, and conducting internal company audits for state compliance.

Patrick is an Accredited Credit Counselor through the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education.




Eileen Shipman Eileen Shipman
Internal Auditor

Eileen has been with FCMS since 2002 and currently serves as our Director of Quality Assurance and Internal Auditor. Eileen is responsible for maintaining FCMS's ISO 9001:2000 certification, which includes the coordination, and management of all quality assurance related activities to ensure that proper accreditation standards are met. In addition to this, Eileen tracks and reports program outcomes and chairs our regularily scheduled management meetings with senior management to discuss interal audit findings and changes to our processes. She brings her experience in ISO from her manufacturing background as a Production Manager. She is certified in the ISO 9001:2000 standards of quality, reliability, efficientcy, effectiveness and good management practices.

As the Internal Auditor, Eileen is the management representative responsible to ensure the Quality Management System is working. The ISO processes requires her to plan and manage the processes necessary for the continual improvements of business processes, quality and customer service. Eileen is also responsible for implemantation of our Code of Practice which is signed and followed by all employees.

Eileen is certified in the Essentials of Auditing Management Systems - ISO 9001:2000 and Auditing Processes through the BSI Management Systems.

Eileen was born and raised in Chicago, IL, and made the Rockford area home after attending Rockford College.

Counseling Department Manager

Before her career at Family Credit Management, Jessica was the Branch Manager for a national finance company where she helped clients obtain loans, mortgages, insurance protection, and debt consolidation. During this time, she realized how many people did not have an understanding of the risks involved with incurring debt and using their homes to pay off credit card debt.

She chose to pursue a different avenue in her career by joining Family Credit Management Services and is now teaching consumers that you "can't borrow your way out of debt".

As the Counseling Department Manager, she provides training and education to her staff, as well as consumers, and ensures overall success of the counseling department. Her devotion to changing the lives of those in need is displayed in her everyday activities and through the organizations she works with in her personal time.

Jessica was born and raised in California and made Illinois her home in 2001 after serving in the military. She has been in finance and management for the past 7 years and served 4 years in the United States Army.




Client Services Manager - Kim Connaughton Kim Connaughton
Client Services Department Manager

Kim is the Client Services Department Manager and a Certified Credit Counselor through the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education. She enjoys working with her team of dedicated Client Service Representatives to improve the financial lives of our clients. Kim is completely responsible for the daily activity of our client services and creditor relations departments. Kim's mission is to ensure complete satisfaction by all of our clients. She works closely with our entire client services department, talks with clients directly on a daily basis and holds regular training meetings with her staff.

Prior to joining Family Credit Management in 2000, Kim spent 17 years working in the fields of accounting, finance, and management.

Kim is interested in philosophy, psychology, religion and finance and has a strong desire to help people in need. She shares this with her staff and supports them so they may best serve our client's needs. Kim Connaughton was born and raised in the Chicago Illinois area and graduated from Elmhurst College with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance.
